Dear Members of the Community,

Much has taken place over the past year on the project.  Last July, the Prince George’s County Council, sitting as the District Council, approved the rezoning of the property to the M-U-TC zoning classification.  Since that time, we have been continuing to work with the Towns of Riverdale Park and University Park on the Preliminary Plan of Subdivision (PPS) and the Detailed Site Plan (DSP).

A significant milestone was achieved this spring when we reached agreement with the University of Maryland on the alignment for a bridge crossing the CSX tracks bounding the eastern border of the project.  This crossing has long been a major transportation component of the project, and the agreement solidified its ultimate location.  

In May, the Planning Board recommended approval of both the PPS and the DSP. The County Council, sitting as the District Council, will be reviewing the Planning Board’s DSP approval recommendation in September.

We look forward to continuing to work with the community to make this new neighborhood something everyone will be proud of.  Whole Foods Market will be a fantastic new addition to the community, and they are excited to be coming to Riverdale Park.  

In early September, we will be hosting another community wide Ice Cream Social in partnership with Whole Foods Market.  More details will be forthcoming on this.  We look forward to seeing you at the Ice Cream Social.
