The Cafritz family welcomes
you to our website and to a continuing series of community
workshops to discuss the Cafritz property in Riverdale
Park, Maryland. |
 |
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas about the
potential development of this property.

The Cafritz family is committed to continuing to work with the local community to create a vibrant, green village that will provide an upscale grocer, special shops and restaurants for neighborhood residents. The village will be one of the most environmentally friendly communities with over 30 percent open space, access to Metrorail, MARC and the future Purple Line, hiker/biker paths and state-of-the-art green building technologies. The centerpiece of the village will be a vibrant public square for community gatherings and events with a 5-acre park with recreational amenities.

The Cafritz property has been in our family since 1954.
It was used as a World War II defense housing development.
Since then, the land has been vacant. The site is located
on Baltimore Avenue (Route 1) between East-West Highway
and Albion Road in Riverdale Park, Maryland. It is bounded
on the west by Baltimore Avenue, its primary street frontage
and a major north-south thoroughfare in Prince George's
County; on the north by Albion Street; on the south by a
U.S. Postal Service facility; and on the east by CSX railroad
tracks. The property consists of 35.8 acres.
